you know what they say, deej people: if you love something, set it free. if it loves you back it will find some weird and possibly inappropriate ways to show you.
the deej loves "lower case" music, and below are three very promising small shows that the deej is happy to present WITHOUT having to do any work! SWEET!
these shows present a pile of "firsts" for the deej: our first co-hosting at the Mansion on O street (by glomming onto Mark and Rue's work), featuring new artists GUTHRIE and IRION; our first show at NANNY O'BRIEN'S with a new act, HOLLERTOWN; and our first KIDS SHOW and first time at the AVALON.
oh, and one "last." mister deej's band, KID GOAT, will perform at the last show at DR DREMO'S in arlington on THUR, Jan 17, 10pm. come to the show, take home a pool table.....

From South Carolina to Santa Monica -- and all points in between: this is your chance to see American folk royalty (Sarah Lee is Arlo's daughter; Woody's granddaughter, Johnny is her husband) in Washington's most magical venue.
Please join us for an incredible night of American music (and bring your friends)!
note from the deej: the Mansion is unbelievable -- unlike any place we've ever seen in DC. get there early enough to tour the dozens of bizarre, funky and beautiful rooms. and the food is good, too!

Hollertown is a DC-based string band with a unique take on the
acoustic Americana sound, incorporating elements of bluegrass,
old-time, and alt-country music. Firmly rooted in the American string
band tradition, this sextet plays a mixture of originals, old
standards, and genre bending covers. Join us for a night of songs of
love, death, drinking, damnation and Flava Flav at Nanny O'Brien's on
Thursday, January 31, starting at 8:30. Nanny O'Brien's is at 3319
Connecticut Ave NW in Cleveland Park.
Have an advance listen at http://www.myspace.com/hollertowndc.
note from the deej: HOLLERTOWN is the perfect band to see at Nanny's, which is under new ownership and has really improved as a bar and music venue. try it! still the best Guinness pour in the area...
