OCTOBER is a big month, deej peoples. as the weather gets cooler and the days shorter, the need for great music becomes more acute. that's where THE DEEJ comes in!

we have three great shows at the QUARRY HOUSE this month: RUTHIE and THE WRANGLERS make their debut (in place of the still-on-the-road RTTs), DANIELLE HOWLE comes by to check out the QH for a saturday evening show, and new artists (to us) NOBODY'S BUSINESS make their deej debut. what's not to like?! oh yeah -- war, poverty, injustice. but you'll find temporary respite from those things with THE DEEJ!

Thursday October 11th
Ruthie and the Wranglers
Quarry House Tavern

RUTHIE and THE WRANGLERS, Washington DC’s favorite Americana band,
will play at the Quarry House Tavern on Thursday October 20th at 8:30
pm.

From Surf and Polka instrumentals to award winning Roots Rock and
Americana Country offerings, Wranglers’ albums have ranked high on
Americana, Folk and Roots music radio charts around the world.
“Someday” was a Top 20 DJ favorite on the Freeform Americans Roots
chart and the album remained on the radio charts for over 20 weeks.
Country Standard Time, No Depression and The Washington Post have
raved about the album. “Someday” won album of the Year from the
Washington Area Music Association. A new album is in the works and
past favorites and upcoming original songs will be featured on the show.

For Ruthie, Bluegrass festivals, a few private guitar lessons and
watching Country Opry stars like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton, along
with influences from her rootsy background combined with her Rock -n-
Roll and Punk-influenced college days was the perfect segue into
Ruthie and the Wranglers. Add Ruthie’s favorite musicians and you
get diverse talent and unstoppable energy.

Ruthie and the Wranglers have been awarded more than 20 Washington
Area Music Awards including: Artist of the Year and Album of the
Year. Their unusually clever songs "I Say Tomato (You Say it's Over")
and I'm So Sad Since You Left me, (It's Almost Like You're Still
Here) and/or many of their tunes have garnered Billboard World
Songwriting Contest honors plus a Song of the Year Award from the
Washington Area Music Association.

With influences like Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and Loretta Lynn, Greg
and Ruthie's unique songcraft and spritely hillbilly harmonies take
you off the beaten path of typical american music, a welcome twist on
tradition. If you love fast paced guitar pickin', a right-on rhythm
section, jumpin' piano and clever lyrics, don't miss this show.
“songwriting flair... nothing short of brilliant” - Billboard
